RoboticsMedical roboticsStory 01

A biopsy robot times the breath

What changedA robot inside a CT scanner tracks a breathing cycle, predicts the right pause and times a needle insertion to that moment. In laboratory experiments, the system also detected unusual breaths instead of treating every cycle as identical.

A diagram shows the CT-bore robot, respiratory sensor and needle path around a breathing target.

The useful part

Why it matters

Breathing-aware control could eventually reduce repeated scans and manual repositioning during lung biopsy.

Keep in mind

Good to know

This is an experimental setup, not a clinical trial, and it does not establish safety in patients.
