RoboticsRobot controlStory 07

Large robot policies act in one step

What changedMany modern robot policies generate an action through several rounds of refinement. Across six vision-language-action systems, the authors found that one step largely matched multi-step sampling once models were large and well trained. That shortcut needs no retraining.

A robot reaches toward a spoon drawer in one of the real-world policy test scenes.

The useful part

Why it matters

Fewer calculation steps can raise a robot control rate without building a separate fast policy.

Keep in mind

Good to know

The shortcut was less dependable for smaller or undertrained models and remains tied to the tested tasks.
