An assistive arm stays light but pushes back

What changedThe completed iAssistADL arm keeps its motors at the base so the moving parts feel light. Tests measured less than 0.1 newton-meter of horizontal resistance while the device still produced roughly 10 newtons of corrective force across its workspace.

A participant uses the three-axis assistive arm while its base-mounted actuators support the hand.

The useful part

Why it matters

An aid for tremor could move freely with a person, then add force only when it is useful.

Keep in mind

Good to know

The experiments validate the machine, not a therapeutic benefit; vertical motion remains limited at higher frequencies.
